My Girlfriend is an Escort – Why I Still Stay

She comes back at 2AM. 4AM sometimes, if her client lived far away this time. I have work in the morning at 8AM every day –but I’m rolling out of bed now and giving her a hug from behind as she gets ready for bed.

My girlfriend Lana became an escort when she was around 24. And no, we didn’t meet because I was a client if you’re wondering. Lana and I were friends back in uni when she just started testing the waters of escorting and the industry. In fact, I was there for her from the start of her first ever appointment, making her instant ramen as she got back home bursting with saucy stories to relate.

Strangely enough, we fell in love 2 years after university! She was juggling escorting with her part time job as a marketing exec, and I was working at a bank nearby her place. Our weekly coffee sessions turned to clubbing nights, nights turned to sleepovers, and sleepovers turned to –well, you get the drill.

Even though I didn’t say it out loud at that point, I always wondered why Lana didn’t just quit escorting then and there. She did have a stable job after all, so why does she need to cut corners anymore? My questions soon turned to a boiling point couple of months down the road and we had our first huge argument. I blurted out that Lana should leave escorting and her expression softened. After all this while, we finally talked about what she did in a candid and calm manner. She explained that she wasn’t just doing it for the money, escorting had become her second nature for a long time and stopping it would mean giving up a part of her life that made her, well her. Lana was always sexually active, even before we met, and she took the time to explain to me that even though sleeping with other men was an outlet for that –her loyalties lied with me emotionally.

Lana gave me a choice that day. I could leave if I wanted to. She never made me stay or do anything I didn’t want to. I chose to be with her along this journey because everything about our relationship was based on trust. It’s better knowing what your partner is doing with her free time, having her trust you with all the problems in the world rather than having to hide them. And that’s why I stay.
