Why Every Escort Needs a “Safe Word”

Many misconceptions surround the use of a “safe word” when engaged in a sexual act. Many associate them only with sex play that involves BDSM and similar practices; however, that is not the case. Whether you engage in those types of kink or not, every escort needs to have a safe word in place with every client prior to any sort of sexual activity.

What is a Safe Word?
A safe word is a word that you can use during any type of sexual activity that puts an immediate stop to the action. While it may seem enough to simply say, “no,” it’s not. Some sex acts and role play use the word “no” as an encouragement to NOT stop. To eliminate any sort of confusion, implement a safe word.

Prior to having sex, you should have a conversation with your partner and explain your expectations regarding the use of the safe word. He needs to understand that, regardless of the moment’s intensity, he is to stop immediately. When the word is uttered, sex ends.

Why Do I Need a Safe Word if I Don’t Engage in “Kinky Sex?”
While kinky sex needs a safe word to do just what it says and ensure your safety, there are other reasons to have it in play regardless of the type of sex you are engaged in.

  • You need a break - Sometimes, after you have been “going at it” for some time, you might simply need a break.  While it’s not sexy, let’s face it, cramps happen. Rather than saying, “Hey, I have a cramp,” use your safe word to give yourself a break. It’s a sexy way to stop for a reason that’s not so sexy.
  • Things are becoming too emotionally intense, or you become “triggered.” If you have had a bad sexual experience in the past, your current partner might not be doing anything wrong, but it could take you to a place emotionally you do not want to be.  Using your safe word will allow you to get out of that situation.
  • Things are becoming too painful.  This is what most associate the use of a safe word with. If you are in a situation where you can no longer take the pain, or you become too frightened, then it is time to use your safe word.
How do I Pick Out a Good Safe Word?
The keys to picking out a good safe word are simple: it needs to be easy to remember when you are in the heat of the moment, it should be easy to say, and it should not be anything that could be misinterpreted in any way.

The most common safe word, for reasons unknown, is “pineapple.”  It’s easy to remember, and no one is going to think, “oh, pineapple! That means go harder!” Other suitable words to use include different types of food, animals, or the same of a celebrity.

Final Thoughts
A safe word is essential to any couple engaging in sexual activity, whether this will be an ongoing engagement or just a one-night happening.  As safewords are not just for those who engage in kinky or risky sex who might need to use it to save their lives, everyone needs one in case they are in a sexual situation of any sort that needs to come to an immediate halt.
